Ruptured Ovarian Cyst Symptoms

Burst Ovarian Cyst Symptoms

These symptoms differ in each case and are sometimes ignored. Whether or not the symptoms are severe or subtle enough to be ignored, a ruptured cyst can become a medical emergency very quickly. That is why it is very important not to ignore ruptured ovarian cyst symptoms.

The first of these symptoms we will discuss is an irregular menstrual cycle. If you are over twenty years of age and are experiencing irregular periods, discuss this with your doctor to avoid any possible medical problems. Another symptom of having an ovarian cyst is a sharp pain in the pelvic area during your period. You may also experience very light or excessively heavy periods as well. You might even stop having periods at all.

The most obvious of ruptured ovarian cyst symptoms is the pain which is usually severe when the cyst has ruptured. This pain is usually located in the pelvic or thigh region. Some pain may be noticed when the patient is on her period but once this cyst has ruptured; the pain is much more severe. You may also experience bleeding as well as back pain. If you are experiencing severe pain seek medical attention and tell the doctor about your ruptured ovarian cyst symptoms.

Painful intercourse is another symptom that your cyst has ruptured. If this pain becomes severe in the pelvic region, it means that you might have a ruptured cyst. You might also notice bladder problems. It is very painful when you can’t completely empty your bladder. If a cyst ruptures it can cause pressure on the bladder which makes you feel the need to urinate more often. Non-menstrual bleeding is also a symptom of a cyst rupturing. If this happens, it is time to go to your doctor and get this checked out.

Feeling “not quite right”, or uncomfortable and nauseated is never a good thing. Have your doctor do an exam because these are signs that something is wrong. Be specific in your symptoms description because sometimes a ruptured cyst is overlooked. A ruptured cyst can produce the exact same symptoms as pregnancy.

Some women who have ruptured ovarian cysts describe the pain as “nothing at all” to “labor type pains”. This makes it even harder to nail down the cause of this pain if a person has never had ovarian cyst before. They may find themselves in incapacitating pain without knowing the reason.

However, if your doctor already knows that you are prone to ovarian cysts, he will be monitoring these very closely. If you are unaware that you have ovarian cysts, though, it may be more difficult for the doctor to pinpoint your ruptured ovarian cyst symptoms. This may mean a trip to the emergency room if your pain is severe enough. Do not ignore the severe pain from these cysts and report any of the ruptured ovarian cyst symptoms to your doctor immediately.
